Great American Smokeout
Philadelphia, PA 19102
Third Thursday of Novemeber is Great American Smokeout. Encourages the start of a smoke-free journey. Promoted by the American Caner Society. The idea for the Great American Smokeout grew from a 1970 event in Randolph, Massachusetts, at which Arthur P. Mullaney asked people to give up cigarettes for a day and donate the money they would have spent on cigarettes to a high school scholarship fund.
“It took me stopping for others like my kids or my dog, to want to try quitting for myself.”
